Me: Remember not all will rest when you are resting.

The devil takes no holiday; he never rests. If beaten, he rises again. If he cannot enter in front, he steals in the rear. If he cannot enter at the rear, he breaks through the roof or enters by tunneling under the threshold. He labors until he is in. He uses great cunning and many a plan. When one miscarries, he has another at hand and continues his attempts until he wins.
Psalms 42:2
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
The American banking association once sponsored a two-week training program to help tellers detect counterfeit bills. The program was unique–never during the two-week training did the tellers even look at a counterfeit bill, nor did they listen to any lectures concerning the characteristics of counterfeit bills….All they did for two weeks was handle authentic currency, hour after hour and day after day, until they were so familiar with the true that they could not possibly be fooled by the false.
We need to study, meditate on, and apply God’s Word until we are so familiar with it that we cannot be fooled by anything less than real truth.
Proverbs 19:21
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.

Holman Hunt, a surrealistic artist, painted the interior of a carpenter’s shop, with Joseph and the boy Jesus working. Mary was also present. As Jesus paused in His work and stopped to stretch Himself, the sun made a shadow of the Cross on the wall. Another of his pictures is a popular engraving which depicts the infant Jesus running with outstretched arms to His mother, the shadow of the Cross being cast by His form as He runs. Both pictures are fanciful in form, but their underlying idea is assuredly true. If we read the Gospels just as they stand, it is clear that the death of Jesus Christ was really in view from the outset of His earthly appearance.
Psalms 121:2
My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.
This is from the book The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer
Anyone who might feel reluctant to surrender his will to the will of another should remember Jesus’ words, “Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” We must of necessity be servant to someone, either to God or to sin. The sinner prides himself on his independence, completely overlooking the fact that he is the weak slave of the sins that rule his members. The man who surrenders to Christ exchanges a cruel slave driver for a kind and gentle Master whose yoke is easy and whose burden is light.
Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
This is from the book Be Alert by Warren W. Wiersbe
Of all the cons we can fall prey to, one of the worst is being duped by a religious phony. Swindlers of this kind deal in counterfeit truth–something that looks and sounds right but is actually contrary to fact, an imitation meant to deceive the unsuspecting. These cons aren’t always done for the benefit of some leader whose name you can’t pronounce. No, every week, lies dressed up in their Sunday best receive nodding approval in mainline churches every where. Counterfeit truth is big business, and it’s still owned and operated by the same insidious proprietor who began it all years ago.
Warren Wiersbe in commenting on the religious counterfeits in 2 Peter 2:3 says: “Plastic words! Words that can be twisted to mean anything you want them to mean! The false teachers use our vocabulary, but they do not use our dictionary. They talk about “salvation,” “inspiration,” and great words of the Christian faith, but they do not mean what we mean.”
How can we avoid being hoodwinked by one of Satan’s workers of deceit?
Stop: Refuse to blindly accept someone else’s teaching just because others have been “blessed” by it. Stop long enough to make a serious study, comparing what is being taught with what the Scriptures teach.
Look: Take a careful look at the life of the main spokesperson. Is the fruit of the Spirit evident? Don’t be wowed because someone sounds intelligent or wooed because of someone’s charisma.
Listen: Pay attention to the terms a person uses and how they’re defined. Also listen to what’s not being said. Don’t judge truth just by how you feel; think, and make your judgements according to what the Scripture teach.
Psalms 121:3
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
This is from The Best Loved Poems of the American People by Josiah Gilbert Holland
God, give us men! A time like this demands
Strong minds, great hearts, true faith and ready hands;
Men whom the lust of office does not kill;
Men whom the spoils of office cannot buy;
Men who possess opinions and a will;
Men who have honor; men who will not lie;
Men who can stand before a demagogue
And damn his treacherous flatteries without winking!
Tall men, sun-crowned, who live above the fog
In public duty and in private thinking;
For while the rabble, with their thumb-worn creeds,
Their large professions and their little deeds,
Mingle in selfish strife, lo! Freedom weeps,
Wrong rules the land and waiting Justice sleeps.
1 Peter 3:16
Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as evil doers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.
