His Strength

20160730_132751

Me:  What a wonderful relaxing day!

Prodigal:  Yes, what are your thoughts.

Me:  A poem will cover them perfectly.  It is by unknown author.

His Strength is Perfect

I can do all things through Christ

Who gives me strength

But sometimes I wonder what he can do through me

There’s no great success to show,

no glory on my own

But in my weakness He is there to let me know….

His strength is perfect when our strength is gone

He’ll carry us when we can’t carry on.

Raised in His power, the weak become strong.

His strength is perfect.

His strength is perfect.

Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say.

Luke 5:5

The Axe

12-30-15 142

Me:  I love your Axe!

Prodigal:  Thank you!  Now I am going outside to use it.

Me:  I just finished reading about an axe and I want to be just like one!

Prodigal:  Explain how?

Charles Swindoll in his book Living on the Ragged Edge states this.

If I appear great in their eyes, the Lord is most graciously helping me to see how absolutely nothing I am without Him, and helping me to keep little in my own eyes.  He does use me.  But I am so concerned that He uses me and that it is not of me the work is done.  The axe cannot boast of the trees it has cut down.  It could do nothing but for the woodsman.  He made it, he sharpened it, and he used it.  The moment he throws it aside, it becomes only old iron.  O that I may never lose sight of this.

O my Father in heaven who is my woodsman, remind me today as I go before your people that I am nothing but an axe.  Please use me as an axe and then throw me aside so that your people that you love only see the woodsman and only worship the woodsman.

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

God Speaks

04-03-16 069

Me:  Howdy Prodigal!

Prodigal:  Howdy, I am just waiting for a friend.

Me:  Do you mind if I wait with you?

Prodigal:  No go ahead.

This comes from the book Hearing God Through the Storm by Max Lucado

Once there was a man who dared God to speak.

Burn the bush like you did for Moses, God.

And I will follow.

Collapse the walls like you did for Joshua, God.

And I will fight.

Still the waves like you did on Galilee, God.

And I will listen.

And so the man stayed by a bush, near a wall, close to the sea and waited for God to speak.

And God heard the man, so God answered.

He sent fire, not for a bush, but for a church.

He brought down a wall, not of brick, but of sin.

He stilled a storm, not of the sea, but of a soul.

And God waited for the man to respond.

And He waited…

And He waited…

And He waited.

But because the man was looking at bushes, not hearts;

bricks and not lives, seas and not souls,

he decided that God had done nothing.

Finally he looked to God and asked, Have you lost your power?

And God looked at him and said, Have you lost your hearing?

Changing Hearts

Me:  Y’all look so cute resting together!

Prodigal:  Yes, it is a great way to stay warm!

Me:  I will share while you are trying to stay warm.

The Prayer That Changes Everything, The Hidden Power of Praising God by Stormie Omartian

God is in the business of changing hearts if we will give Him the opportunity to do so.  When we praise and worship Him and appreciate fully all that He is, and express thanks and gratefulness to Him for all He has done in our lives, and tell Him how much we love Him, we open up a channel through which more of His love pours into our heart.  Then His love will overflow us and spill onto everyone with whom we come in contact.

Sometimes the darkness in the world is pushing to overcome the love that is bright in our day.  Sometimes I will hear people say “How do you listen to depressing talk all day long.”  What they don’t realize is that with the storm comes the beauty of the rainbow afterward when the sun in shining.  Yes, I imagine if I focused a lot on the storm and not the rainbow, my job would be very difficult.  God wants us to stop and have enjoyment over the rainbow.  He knows all to well that this life will have storms.  He also knows all to well that we need that break of looking upon the beauty of the rainbow to give peace to our souls.  Let my love for you today be a rainbow to some else’s storm.

Luke 12:31

But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
