Wise Words

Me:  Those are some wise words in that prayer Prodigal.

Prodigal:  I agree it is important for us to always turn to prayer.

Me:  I will share with you some wise words from the book Dropping Your Guard by Charles Swindoll

Life breaks down not so much because of the terrible things that happen to us.  Life breaks down because so few good things have happened to us.  Just a few along the way can be like branches we can cling to as we climb up a mountain trial.  No matter how steep the ascent, we can make it, if from time to time along the trail someone communicates to us that he or she love us and therefore we are important.

I have friends who listen to me patiently and even laugh at my bad jokes.  I have leaders in the church who spend time  trying to shepherd and speak God’s truth in my life.  I do not thank them enough for all they are teaching me and how they are encouraging.  Then there is my loved ones who love me even in my worse days.  My worse days wear them out and yet they try to bring me happiness.  Life would be a dark alley that is cold and dreadful without y’all.  You are all in my heart in this moment.

Luke 3:11

And he answered them, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.

A Central Point

Me:  Prodigal, You are right in the middle!

Prodigal:  You would not believe how tough it was to make it up here.

Me:  Before you have to get down, let me share.

This comes from the book God’s Generals by Roberts Liardon

We need to understand that God has a central point from which every aspect of our lives operate, whether individually or corporately.  That area is called “timing.”  From the operation of that one word, lives can move forward with God or be hindered.  Nations can advance spiritually, or regress.  Life in the spirit realm has a timing to it just as life in the natural.  Therefore, it is vitally important for us to follow the leading of our spirit.  We must learn that it’s not always right to move into action because it seems like the thing to do.  This kind of obedience only comes from seasons of prayer and intercession.

With so many voices clamoring to be heard in the word,  it is ever so important that we remain obedient to God’s timing in all things.  Most of the time things tend to take longer than I want them too because there is both a spirt realm and a natural realm. Do not forget in Daniel when he prayed and the angel was hindered for 21 days in delivering an answer to Daniel’s prayer.  We are not able to know and understand all but we must be obedient.

Lamentations 3:20

My soul hath them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

Fulfilling the Law

Me:  As we walk we can talk about God and how He wants to direct our lives.

Prodigal:  I know we can easily become distracted by what the world is telling us.

Me:  I can share from the book that I am reading.

The book is Great Women of the Christian Faith by Edith Deen

This quote coms from Catherine Booth.  She and her husband started the Salvation Army.

It was no easy task for Catherine Booth to rear her family of eight children as they went from place to place in their self-sacrificing service.  She who was so home-loving had to spend her time traveling much of her life.  But she never neglected her children’s Christian welfare.  She counseled them, watched with wisdom over their spiritual development, education and courtships, and taught them that it is not so much what one does as how much one loves, for love, she said, is the fulfilling of the law.

Is judging fulfilling the law? I think judging fuels our pride and that is where we would like to go first. God has wisdom beyond us and that is why he is telling us to turn to love.

Amos 3:7

Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.
